    Of shrinks and peakbaggers

Joy of learning and meeting ! If it were not for my quest to climb all of NE100 H mountains, I never would have : -enjoyed an organic coffee in funky Jamaica (VT) -learned about hunting dogs equiped with an electronic collar on East Kennebago (ME); -enjoyed the peaceful setting of Dorset Hollow...

Yoho Emerald Lake Circuit: A short but interesting lakeside hike that the family can take is the Emerald Lake Circuit. It is only 5 km (3.1 mi.) long and can be easily done in about an hour and a half. This hiking trail offers a bit of everything, views of the majestic mountains, the beautiful...

Check here for a map showing trails to the summit. Park at the south side of the lake and ask around for the trail. It is obvious.

easiest trail off Mt Washington to Auto Rd base

Nelson Crag combined with Old Jackson Road will bring you down to Pinkham notch. It is , IMO, your best bet. Otherwise, you end up on Great Gulf and will emerge on route 16 quite north of the base of the auto road and quite tired.

    Pocket Rocket or Superfly?

I also have both. On a week long backpacking trip for two, it is a security to carry both since they are so light. The superfly takes any cannister, be it in Morocco or Bolivia, which is a big plus.

    Rocket won't Fly!

Matches It is very obvious why matches are verbotten in your checked luggage. They are in a bag/case packed tight under a mountain load of other bags, with a lot of vibration. There is a remote chance that friction could cause them to ignite. Not an option on a plane...

    Flagging on bushwacks

Criminal Flagging is unwaranted. If you are a researcher or a surveyor, you got a budget right ? So get a GPS and flag electronically, i.e. use way points.

Who wants a shelter for July 2nd and 3rd in Baxter ?

I have a reservation at South Branch Pond on July 2nd and 3rd. A shelter near the water. A value of 36$. I will let it go for anybody who is ready to donate $10 for Darren's cause. It is the nicest spot in Baxter state park. Who wants it ?
