Went to Ed Webster lecture on his 3 attempts on Mt Everest from the 3 different faces, well worth seeing. He had much of his actual gear and encouraged everybody to touch his lucky ice ax.

He has a limited number of the deluxe edition of his book which have been signed by 16 famous people involved with Everest, don't remember who they all were but may include Houston, Messner, Hillary, etc which he is selling for $850 apiece. I would have thought that a book touched by so many famous people would be worth more than a guidebook which if in good condition has probably sat on somebody's shelf.

geez, i got a 1969 guidebook with the maps and everything. its the one from home that i used for my first few trips. has lots of cool old trails in it like the adams slide trail. i wonder what that is worth? not really old but its cool to read

The guide is what its worth to someone. I usually see them go for in the $20 to $30 range. Anything less and there isnt enough profit for the dealer to do the listing. I started collecting examples of various decades of guides in order to get info on older trails that have now been abandoned. There are certainguides that are of value due to major changes that occured either before or after the issue. For an example, the guide prior to the Franconia notch parkway is going to be of value to someone who is interested in the trails as they were prior to the road construction. The guide prior to the hurricane of 38 is also valuable as many trails were closed and never reopened.
