Is there any quick reference weather forecast available for the mid range elevations ? I'm particularly interested in Carters/Moriah for today and tomorrow for plans this weekend, if this is rain and ice or snow.

Not that I'll leave the snowshoes and crampons home. It'd just be nice to have a better idea of what to expect. thanks

it should be a royal mess for the next few days. There are flood watches in effect and it will be turning much colder tonight. You will likely deal with lots of ice!

That's a good suggestion, thanks. Now if they could overlay the temps with a precip graphic...

Looks like frozen mud covered by ice and a few inches of snow for the weekend  .

Ideal for your new microspikes. I'm eager to test them out Saturday.

Another site for mid-range conditions is Grey Knob They only update it every Thursday, but it will give you an accurate conditions report for around the 4000' level, especially if you plan on hiking Friday and if the weekend weather is looking good...

zealand

yup, it does appear that Zealand road is open, I see that the "last modified" date on that page was yesterday Thurs 11/15. I would love corroboration by any eyewitnesses today, though!

And the obvious next question is: Are they yet skiable? All three areas reopen, in a way, once you can ski them. "Trail Conditions" takes on a whole new importance with the snow, and the list changes dramatically. I don't know, I think the Bonds is almost definitely a winter trip. Hancocks, Wild River Trail, the Wilderness Trail..., all these change their character in quantum ways once they become skiable. How about the idea of coming into Carter Notch from the backside? See? LET's GO SKIING!

Tripoli Road still more drivable than skiable

Drove by the Waterville end of the Tripoli Rd a couple times today... probably 3-4" of fresh and it's not melting... but I wouldn't call it skiable! It looked like some adventurous souls had driven up past the West Branch Road cut-off, presumably they were turned around at one of the gates.
