Now that most all the achievers except the Winter Mountaineers got their award patches, who is going to the dinner on Saturday, April 16? I figured I will start this thread to see if many of us VFTTers will be showing up and also if you are coming - why? (socializing, involved with organization or receiving award and which one?)

Me - I am receiving my NH 48 (all season) award. I summited Moosilauke on August 5, 2004 to complete them.

I am considering coming and was wondering what is a good hike I can do in the area preceding the evening event in the 6-8 mile range. Does anyone want to show me around on Saturday or Sunday for a couple of good local hikes? Since I am coming from the New York area I want to make the trip worthwhile and see the best of what this area has to offer.

Well, I don't know about "turn-around" time for getting the patches but I am sending in my form tomorrow and will be at the Awards dinner even if I don't make the deadline for getting mine since I have so many good friends who will be getting theirs this year. So, I will see you there !!! :D

if you are coming from new york you can stop by Mount Monadnock on your way there (that 's what i do) - then it is about 1.5 hours to the 4000 footer "pizza party" in Stratham from there.

Mr. Ivy & I will be coming to the dinner. I'm receiving the all-season 48 award too. :) I expect there will be a big VFTT
crew there this year since lots of people seem to be finishing lists.

Sli, you shouldn't have to worry about turn-around time. On the dinner form, it notes that they have a different reservation date deadline for people who finish in April. So, I'm sure your application will be there in more than enough time.

We'll be there with DVD's a plenty. We have a table for the day to sell the 48 DVD's at. That and we also have tons of stories to tell!

Come one come all!

If you sent it directly to Exeter, turnaround time should be a week or so. We make every effort to make sure that people have the stuff in time to get reservations in for the dinner (deadline for res's is April 1st except for late winter finishers). If you finished back in the summer though, don't delay!

Another great hike closer to Exeter is the various peaks of Pawtuckaway. Not much absolute elevation but good views of SE NH and a boulder field to play in among other things.

OK. Now that I know a good many VFTTers are coming. Where should I stay near where the action is?

Drive up - Friday evening, Hike - Saturday. Dinner & Festivities - Saturday evening, party - Saturday night. Sleep- early Sunday. Hike mid-day Sunday & then travel home is my itinerary.

Hi, I live in Poughkeepsie. Perhaps we can caravan or share a ride? We'll see what happens.

I'd also like to spend most or all of the weekend up there and do a hike some time. A NE HH peak was on my mind, but I doubt any of them are close by. Anything would be fine, really. Stay in touch...

THANKS Eric !!! I finished my NH48 on Jan 29 and my NE 67 on Feb 5 and will hopefully get the form out to you by this weekend. I appreciate your response and can't wait for the awards dinner, should be a blast !!!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm......I am trying to decide on whether to go to this or another hiking event that weekend. However, now that you mention seeing Bob.....you might have convinced me.

I'll be at the dinner in April for my all-season 48. I've got the reservation form sitting on my desk at home right now to remind me to send it in!

(more importantly, I've had the date reserved in the Palm Pilot for the last 3 months; if it isn't in there, it doesn't happen in my world!)

Nat and I will definitely be there.
We plan on staying in Portsmouth and party hard all weekend.
The only hiking we'll do will be to the liquor store.

i hope to finish the winter 4000 footers, so yes, lets all have some johnny walker blue to celebrate..like im drinking right now

Hey......I haven't seen anything about this awards dinner. Where? When? How?

PS The new header is the only Patriot Act I support!!!!!!!! :D

Thanks........Jade

I'll be there with my wife to pick up our NE 67 (all season) certificates. A few other AMC'ers who have finished the NE 67 and NH 48 will be joining us.

Sounds like there's going to be quite a crowd at the school this year!

Exeter Address?

Anyone know the Exeter address that Eric refers to here???

I'd be willing to head up a large hiking group trip to the summit of North Mountain in Pawtuckaway State park.. it's 20 min from my house... 20 min from the awards venue.

ITS ALL GOOD!
