Cast of Characters: CrazyBob, Charles, Keith (KPMMBM), Petch, and Henrietta

Trip data: about 9.7 miles, 3450ft ele gain, 6 hrs 50min

A few comments:
- A little "Green Grass and Hightides" prehike music to start the day.
- Absolutely beautiful weather- bright blue skies, little wind, limitless views, and barely a breeze.
- Henrietta is sporting some new Xmas apparel. It's from the "G.I. Joe- Home for the Holidays" collection. Actually it's a $1.50 bottle decoration from Xmas Tree Shops. Don't ya just love a bargain?
- Tons of people out on the trails.
- Ice appeared on the upper part of the Fishin Jimmy Trail. Most of us put on our Microspikes which worked well.
- Came across a large AMC group of 15+ hikers, one of which told CrazyBob that not wearing his Microspikes was a "Safety Concern". So CrazyBob then became SafetyHazardBob for the rest of the hike. I was happy I didn't get reprimanded for bringing along a flamingo on the hike. I don't think there is any specific AMC rule about carrying lawn ornaments, but I have an old version of the Mountain Guide, so I'm not really sure.....
- I dislocated my left kneecap again coming off of North Kinsman. Even with a brace on, this is happening too frequently. I need to call the ortho doc again. Having an extreme case of patella femoral disorder just plain sucks......I really don't want to take up golf until I hit my 80's.
- Met a couple on South Kinsman finishing there 48th.
- On the way down, we came across some boy scouts heading for Kinsman Pond. I asked one scout how heavy his pack was- he answered "1/2 my body weight- 35lbs". Then I imagined trying to carry a 100lb pack. Na, I don't think so.
- A post-hike cold PBR capped off another great day in the mountains.

Good job with the TR. The reason I did not take the microspikes out of my pack was that it was so warm out I thought it was August. It was a great hike and I was glad Charles & Keith (KPMMBM) could join us. :D:eek::D

Petch,
Nice job on the highlights and photos!
Sorry to hear about your knee problem.:( I too have a similar problem. After I blew out my knee on the Glen Boulder Trail back in 1999, the surgeon informed me that I had chrondromalachia (that word is way too big for my vocabulary).
Luckily, I haven't had too much trouble with it when I am hiking in the mountains.

Where's Henrietta's Thanksgiving garb?:D

Donna:)

Thx Donna,
Sorry to hear about your knee issues. Hopefully with stretching, PT, and some NSAID's you can continue to hike and avoid surgery. I on the other hand am just buying time.......trying to avoid the inevitable

Xmas came early this year (like every year), so no T-day garb. But, hey Valentines Day is just around the corner!
