We spent a fantastic weekend with great friends at Crag Camp last weekend to celebrate Kim's birthday. There wasn't a peak bagged all weekend (at least for me), although the group did make the rounds with a visit to all the Adams family children. I've never been happier to not be standing on a summit! What a wonderful time to be above treeline and just hanging out. Happy Birthday Kim - can't wait for next year's celebration!

Here's the story in words and (many) pictures: http://theramblingsblog.blogspot.com/2012/06/birthday-celebration-at-crag-camp.html

And a couple of pictures of what words can't describe:

Can't imagine a better day above treeline...

I actually left the birthday part out when I sent the Crag Camp invite so the birthday celebration was a very nice surprise for me ;)

It was a really fun weekend and we totally lucked out with the weather. The relaxed attitude towards hiking plans made it even better - the only goal being securing bunks for everyone. Everything else was icing on the cake...or should I say candles in the brownies :D

I wished everyone could have joined us on The Castles but we knew it was the right choice. Several times throughout the day we said that it was a good thing you chose not to join us...even our knees were aching. By the time we were done with the last castle, I was thrilled to be hiking on dirt again.

Xar - if we really knew how to celebrate...we wouldn't have forgotten the beers in the fridge

I'm looking forward to the next adventure...whatever that may be!!!

Awesome photos and blog! Okay, so my birthday is in September, may I borrow you and your friends? You people have this bday thing down to a science. :D

Thanks Unstrung. Sure, we're in! Perhaps we could find a new side job here as high altitude birthday coordinators :D

You're right Kim, I forgot that we figured out the birthday thing without your input. Made it slightly easier to make it a surprise celebration ;)

I still have no regrets about skipping the Castles this time. My knees were much happier and so was the rest of me when I was back sitting by the pool with a beer at 6:00 and not getting ready to fight the bike week traffic home.

We're looking forward to the next adventure too! There have sure been some good ones in the last couple of months!

Thanks for setting this trip up. That made it easy for us to ambush you :p

Well said Pa. :D
