My hiking partner (Steve) and I were going to do a bushwhack today in the Waterville Valley area. But, we got out of our cars, took one look at the brilliant deep blue sky, and immediately opted to do an about face and hike up to Tecumseh. It was right there, beckoning us, and nearly reached out and grabbed us.
We hiked up the Mt. Tecumseh Trail from the ski area. Other than meeting a large party of 10 or so hikers who were descending as we were ascending, our trip to/from to the mountaintop was uneventful. And although the thermometer on Steve’s pack was around zero degrees (sometimes plus, sometimes minus) for the entire day, it really didn’t seem overly cold. (But it would have been a different story if it had been windy!)

We got some great views from the east outlook toward the Trypyramids.
We also got some fantastic views from the north outlook toward the Franconia Notch region, and western edge of the Pemi.
And there was a nice view of Tecumseh’s summit cone from the Sosman Trail.
