I forgot to post this here earlier, but I thought some of you might be interested. I've been writing trip reports for some of the trips I led for a summer camp this summer, as well as a few hikes I did immediately after. I hear this forum is into hiking and outdoorsy stuff, so maybe you'd like to read a few trip reports ;)

Here's a list of what I've got so far:
-Summer Camp backpacking trip to the Whites (Crawford -> Franconia)
-Summer Camp backpacking trip to the Cohos Trail
-Summer Camp paddling on the Moose River Bow
-Day hike up Tumbledown Mountain

Soon to come:
-Acadia's Precipice
-Northern Presidentials Loop

Enjoy!

Those were cool trips. Thanks for sharing those.
Yeah, isn't that last 1/2 mile up to Garfield tentsite fun?
I like the picture of Dixville Notch, and also the moose in the mist.

You're welcome!

Best weather for a set of summer trips I've had in years. I feel like I used up my karma bank as far as sunny skies and no rain.

Those ponds up north convinced me I need to get into paddling a lot more in the future.

Ryan, It's great of you to volunteer your time to the summer camp hikes. I'm sure the kids appreciate it. A great way to give back.

Great blog reports. I've got to get up to Tumbledown sometime.....

It wasn't volunteering... but it might as well have been. If you know what I mean. But I do think the kids appreciated the trips. I don't think I would have been quite so accepting of roughing it at that age :)

Nice stuff Ryan! I think I would have enjoyed spending my summer at that summer camp ;) Hadn't been to your blog for a while so had missed all these when they went up. Tons of great pics and trail stories! I recognized the photo of Tumbledown Pond since it was basically the same photo that was in the "Where In Maine" feature in Down East a couple of months ago. Definitely want to get there after seeing the rest of your pics.

Was also glad to see that you got the TR from Acadia up as well. I was so bummed to have to bag my trip up there last month - particularly when I found out that there were no Peregrine chicks this year and the Precipice was open. That's been my favorite hike in the park since we first did it two years ago. Can't wait to get back up there again! Thanks for sharing all the great trails...

Downeast stole my photos??? ;)

Bummer you didn't make it to Acadia this summer, but it looks like you managed to get in some good trips in the Whites at least. I have to keep reminding myself when trips get called off... there's always next season. I just need to learn to be patient. Cheers!

We bumped into you on your Cohos trail hike on 8/6. We were a group of five, with a big brown lab, that had just bushwhacked Muise. We were on our way back to Nash Stream when we ran into your your group getting water. We were very surprised to see anyone else out there. That was a quite warm day. Not my favorite weather.

John, you were the only other hikers we saw for the entire trip, so I guess you were right to be surprised to see us! I do remember that being an unbearably hot day, especially in the very exposed section of trail. Whew. I'd almost forgotten about that.

How is that bushwhack to Muise? I want to start getting into more bushwhacking sometime. It seems like some of those mountains near the Cohos Trail would be good places to check out.
