I'm looking for information about the abandoned trail up Mt. Eastman Trail starting in North Chatham. Several years ago I met a hiker on Mt. Eastman who said she occasionally takes that trail. The trail is shown on the 1937 National Geographic Map. It is not mentioned in any White Mountain Guide since 1969 (I don't have any earlier ones) nor in the 1922 guide digitized by Google.

It might actually be a snowmobile trail (When we hiked Mtn. Pond there are trails out to the east of the pond, about that area) so maybe a local snomo map might show it. Here is a map of the trail. Bradley Brook is also not there any more but there is a logging/class 6 road in the area. We used it to get to Sable.

KRobi, Thanks. That map does give a good idea where the old trailhead might be. Do you happen to know what year it is from? Google satellite view shows what looks to be a logging road that approximately follows the former Bradley Brook Trail, but the trace becomes indistinct around where it is supposed to intersect with McDonough Brook and the abandoned Eastman Trail. I guess I'll just have to go out and look for it.

Not the greatest resource, but here is an online snowmobile trail map:

I wish that there was better "zoom" capability.
I have found that the "jimapco" maps offer really good locational accuracy of the snowmobile trails in Maine (I checked out Grafton Notch late last winter) They seem to be up to date for the area between Fryeburg & Evans Notch on the linked to NH trail map.
