Wow! What a trip! Cantdog, Prino, DougPaul, MichaelJ, Bunchberry, JohnS, King Tut, Nadine, Audrey, Pat, and I met up at Acadia National Park to do some buttkicking hiking. I'm happy to report it didn't rain or snow one drop (or flake) the entire trip, despite the dismal forecasts! I think it's safe to say an epic time was had by all.

Trip report and pictures are up on my personal website. Click here for a direct link.

Special thanks to Cantdog for arranging the trip! And thanks to everyone for helping create some great memories. :D

Great pictures and trip report! I had tons of fun with everyone on the hikes this weekend. The Precipice is more fun every time i hike it, and the company was great. Thanks to everyone who made the great food and for being so nice to me. Michael J has a lot of work to do if he wants to beat Artex in this trip report contest. Is there going to be a poll? I can't wait to see his pics.

Okay - I'm kicking myself now for not driving up, but given the weather forecast Friday afternoon - things did NOT look good for the weekend. I really wasn't looking forward to huddling under a tarp on Saturday evening in the rain and very cold temps and very high winds.

Oh well.... the forecasts turned out to be VERY wrong and by the time I thought I should head up, it really would have been very foolish to drive all that way just for Saturday evening.

Glad that everyone had a great time.

Oh man.....

Awesome pics and report Artex. I was 100% prepared to meet and join you and the rest this weekend but I was totally turned off by the weather forecast on Friday. This is the 2nd or 3rd major VFTT event I've missed because the weather forecast "looked" horrible...I think I've learned my lesson this time.

I've got 251 pics to go through, and I only just got home; give me some time, eh?
:)

(nice work, Jamie!)

Looks like you had a great hike. Neat mtn to hike from the pix. I guess that's on the list now, too!! Fun group to hike with. Nice pix Jamie... Michael is back playing around with the white balance or something... ;)

Thanks to cantdog for organizing this great time. It was so nice to meet everyone! I always enjoy putting faces to the names. We had awesome weather for a rainy weekend :) The precipice and beehive were really fun climbs, I enjoyed all the rock scrambling and iron rungs

Audrey and Pat did a great job at organizing the food. Kudos to all for cooking such nice meals. :)

Can't wait to do it again!

Nadine

Fantastic trip report and pictures, Artex, as usual. Glad to see that you guys got better weather than we did three weekends ago. Looked like a blast!

I did part of this hike years ago but it was a crowded summer day. I'd love to have been there this weekend! Sounds like you had a great time! Some of your pictures are just stunning!

The pictures are terrific, Jamie and some seem better than it actually was! The Precipice and Beehive look ‘interesting’.

I think the good weather was payback for all those times it rained when it wasn’t supposed to. Sunday was just spectacular. I drove up to Cadillac on the way out and it was clear blue sky in all directions.

Alright i'll give you 24 hours. Just to let you know, i got back from my grueling hour and a half drive and still had the energy to post my 5 new pics! But don't worry, i'm not judging you. There could be a green square for you after all the pics come out, how's that for a carrot?

Looks like you all have a fun time!! I'm looking forward to getting back there some day. Great pictures Jamie!!

My adoring public is carrot enough. ;)

However, my workplace wants to know if I'm bothering to come into the offfice today, so I suspect that the remainder of this trip report project, and the last 50-60 photos, might have to wait for tonight.

Jamie, fantastic trip report and your photos are stunning! I had such an incredible weekend up in Acadia with you all--with the brilliant scenery and the most wonderful company, it was hard to go wrong. I loved meeting more VFTT folk for the first time! I checked Geddy's website, and didn't see the photo of us up there yet, but there are about a million photos on their site, so I'm afraid we won't be as uniquely famous as we thought we might be.

The Precipice trail was as cool as it looks (even more so!), for anyone who hasn't gotten up there yet, but as you can see, it is only for those whose idea of a great trail involves a death-defying ascent up a sheer cliff face :)

Huge thanks to Cantdog for putting this trip together, thanks to Prino for his yummy vindaloo and colourful sense of humour, thanks to MichaelJ for letting me step on his shoulder in a time of need, thanks to Artex for an inspiring conversation about teaching, thanks to Pat and Audrey for the best spaghetti and meatballs dish I've ever had, thanks to Nadine for her gourmet european cookies on the trail, thanks to Kingtut for his comprehensive knowledge about Acadia and hard-to-miss brightly colored fleeces, thanks to DougPaul for his wisdom on x-country skiing, and thanks to JohnS for providing nourishing breakfast food for the day's adventure!

One remaining question--just who is going to patent that sleeping bag????? :)

LOL! That should be all Prino! May his wisdom and imaginative thinking bring him an avalanche of gold. :D

It looks like I wasn't the first with that idea, unfortunately. :(
Guess I'll have to think up some other hairbrained idea to make a living. ;)
