Anyone been to Acadia lately?

Want to take the kidos there next weekend to do some hiking (beehive particularily) and remember how snowy it was last year about this time on some of the trails in the more isolated areas (Pemetic and Cadallic N. trails particularily)...they are not up for any sort of snowy hiking....

Thanks.

penobscott

Take the trail to Penobscott mountain from the Jordan pond parking lot. I have done it with both of my kids and they loved it.

...take him too...

Penobscot and South Bubble

For spectacular views, I second Penobscot. Near the summit, it feels like you can reach out and touch Jordan Pond with Pemetic and Cadillac Mountains framing the other side. And for the most of the walk, you are on exposed granite, with the Atlantic behind you.

The Bubbles offer yet another view over Jordan Pond. From South Bubble, you look out over all of Jordan Pond, with the Atlantic beyond. The inventors of the infinity pool must have taken the idea from this view.

On the Quietside of the island, try St. Sauveur with sweeping views over Somes Sound with a backdrop of Norumbega, and a reach-out-and-touch view of Southwest and Northeast Harbors backed by the Atlantic.

I will toss in another vote for Penobscot and the Bubbles.

And when you do the Bubbles, you get to do the 1/2 gravel 1/2 wicked fun boardwalk treck around Jordan Pond! Throw in a few really neat driftwood sculptures and the kids will be very entertained!

;)

I don't think there is one inch of Acadia Ntl Park that is not positively beautiful. It's a breathtaking place no matter where you wander.

....don't forget the popovers and homemade strawberry jam at the Jordan house. They are to die for!

Also the Wildwood stables near the Jordan Pond area have great sunset horse and carriage rides up Day mountain at sunset. Reserve early so you get a spot. Great visuals.
OOPS! They open mid June.
