You can see his cabin at the Adirondack Museum at Blue Mountain Lake. I've also read the book a few times and had no idea how small he was until seeing the cabin. It probably had to be small to keep him warm in the winter. A few years ago my son and I visited the hermitage site on the Northville Lake Placid trail. It is between Ouluska Brook and Duck Hole. There is a plaque on a tree put there by some friends and lots of miscellaneous iron objects laying around. It was sort of a pilgrimage for me :) . A very unique individual.

A great book is "Life With Noah" by William J O'Hern. Jay spent many years researching and interviewing Noah's closest friend, Richard Smith. You won't regret buying or reading this book and it is definitely my more favorite of the two books on Noah. You can get it from adirondack-books.com as well as places like the ADK museum.
