How worthless is this? I got a cheapo advantix (kodak) film camera years ago, and I even still have 1 roll of undeveloped Advantix film. Is this camera even worth it to freecycle, give away? Can you actually develop Advantix film anymore??

But would somebody actually bother? I bet the camera was worth $15 new.... I tried once on Freecycle but no takers and was wondering if I should try again... hate throwing stuff out, ya know, and I, myself, really wouldn't even bother paying to develop anything on this either...

It is unlikely that the camera will ever be a collector's item in the near future. But who knows in the future. Agreed, it is a paperweight currently.

A quick google search shows that Advantix film is still being sold, and with many options for processing. You may still be able to find a local processor. As the film has probably gone past expiration you will want to use it soon if at all. If you feel guilty about throwing the film out - just ask at a store that still does film processing to see if they recycle the cartridge and cannister parts. Otherwise there are still a variety of film processing labs in NYC. The larger labs generally recycle plastic and metal parts.

For recycling I was going to recommend dropping the unused film off at the Fair Lawn NJ Kodak processing lab, but I see they closed in 2004:eek:. I often said that I kept them in business prior to Fuji Velvia. I would drop off large volumes of film while driving home from a NYC airport after long foreign trips, and mail film there at other times. Sad to hear of the closing, but no doubt that was inevitable.

I used to drive past the Kodak place in Fair Lawn when I was growing up! It was right next door to a big Nabisco food plant which you could smell cookies all the time when they were baking. It used to be on Rt 208 on the way to the Garden State Plaza...

In any case, I may try Freecycle again, I don't sell on Ebay and the hassle of shipping and stuff is not worth it. This is a very cheap camera at best!
