Or '3 days in the ADKs w/o a high peak!'

Saturday: The WALL! We did trail work with Pete Hickey, Joe Cedar, Teo, and Procook. The destination was Wallface Pass. You've probably seen it from the Loj Road:

And maybe you've seen if from the old Dam works.

But have you seen it like this!

It was a great day. Not that the weather was perfect, it rained a little, nor the temps or the humidity were ideal, they weren't. But spending a day with Pete is always a treat. And Wallface is just spectacular! The cliffs are astonishing up close and personal! And when you get to the top of the pass, you can see down the 'other side' to Santanoni, Henderson, MacNaughton, etc.

It was just a special day. Not to mention making new friends with Teo and Procook. Hanging out that night at LPPB, we ran into Procook again, El Loco, his wife, and Peggy Mac and Rich.

Sunday: Another great day to CATamount, covered by a separate thread, but here are a few pics:

Sunday night we attended the 46R dinner and received our 46R Trail work Patches. As you can probably tell, we don't do anything unless there is a patch involved! :)

Monday: The HAZE! The Canadian fires sent us their smoke. The views were almost completely washed out. But we had a great traverse of the Crows, with our local guide Linda (Mrs. Joe Cedar). We just have to go back for the views! We could see Hurricane, Giant and just barely make out a few other peaks, but Joe and Linda kept describing what we were missing. Thanks for the trip!

On the way home, the haze vanished, almost instantly, a little before Albany.

So now you understand the title! :D

Absolutely incredible smoke shots! I thought it was bad on Smarts Mtn in NH, guess I was mistaken, haha.

I thought there were people camping on the mtn, but it was just those darn wildfires.

Wow! You guys really had the purple haze on this trip. We saw and smelled it here too on Mt. Flume where the song was "When Smoke Gets In your Eyes" (and nose). Nice trip report Tom. Fran and I have not hiked over there yet.

Tom

Tell us about that tool on your p[ack, is it a hydrolic lopper or the jaws of life?

If you look carefully, you will see 3 people in that shot, and I think what you are seeing is a superposing of at least 2 tools. And none of the 3 people are me! :D

The closest person is TEO, the orange is Joe Cedar, and the middle is probably Procook.

That explains why there is an ax handle on the loppers.
