If you have a latin (spanish) food store in your area, the prices for Quinoa maybe alot cheaper. It is sold as a Peruvian food. I buy it in 1 lb bags alot cheaper that when I used to buy it at select "health food" store. I lived in Chile and the people of the altiplano (north of Chile) eat this as a staple. Dried native potatoes (golf ball size) is another tried and true with dried llama meat.

I've cooked with quinoa a lot. I only rinsed it once and it was a pain to rinse. I didn't notice that it tasted any different for my having rinsed it.

Yay! I can give up that step! I only have one seive fine enough, and that only holds 1/2 cup at a time. Tedious to rinse large quantities.
