As a fellow “View From the Top” member stated on a previous thread: that occasionally one needs to do an “emergency hike”; well that’s exactly what our hike to Lonesome Lake was to be for us. After getting up at 4 am and driving 9 ½ hours to Franconia Notch, New Hampshire, we needed to stretch our legs a bit and this mile and a half hike “filled the bill”. The forecast for Saturday 10/24 did not look promising for our scheduled hike with fellow AMC members to the summit of Mount Cabot; otherwise we would probably have skipped this hike.
The temperature at 3 pm was around 50 degrees with little wind and we completed our leisurely hike before dark. Here are a few of our photos:

Donna & Mike: I don't envy the drive from MD to NH, but isn't it soooo worth it!!??:)
I can relate since I used to make nearly that same 9.5 hour drive when living in Delaware several years ago.

Welcome "home", and best wishes for an enjoyable visit!

KEITH,
Wish we could get the reports up sooner, but always have to wait until we get home. Glad you are enjoying them!

JOHN,
Didn't know that you were from our "neck of the woods" a few years ago.
It's not the drive up that is bad, it's the sad drive home:( It was good to be "home again" if only for a week.

UNSTRUNG HARP,
Small hikes sure can rock. Thanks!

CYMBIDIUM,
It would be wonderful to live closer to the White Mountains. Maybe after retirement.

DONNA:)
