Missed it :( Glad you enjoyed some auroras. What a beautiful natural phenomenon!

Anyone camping out this week will see auroras if that massive sunspot unloads one more explosion, now that it's facing Earth.

Another good website to monitor is solar-terrestrial dispatch

I saw my first northern lights that night (well, early Sunday morning)! I was staying at the KOA capgground in Woodstock, NH. It was around 4 or 4:30am, somewhere in there...there were light green vertical stripes that slowly moved and also little patches of light green that darted horizontally...very cool indeed!

I saw the same light show from the KOA, and I now realize it was already there much earlier in the evening. The sky in that direction was light, in spite of being close to midnight, but living near Boston I immediately just assumed it was the lights of Lincoln and Woodstock and thought nothing of it. Had I actually put some thought into it, I would have realized that in the perfectly clear night sky, there's no way there could have been that much light on the northern horizion.

Then again, when I first saw the 4am display I assumed my eyes were just tricking me in the dark...
:)
