Our story starts near the end of August. We had booked an awesome campsite with lots of capacity in a great location. Many friends were joining us to ring out the summer in style. Friday morning as we were loading our gear the phone rang. It was the campground informing us that all sites must be evacuated by 9am Saturday. There’s a hurricane coming. We regrouped and decided on a day trip under blue skies and got back home before Irene reeked her havoc.
About a month later we managed to rebook a reunion for the cancelled trip. With short notice and a marginal forecast most friends wouldn’t be able to join us.
The weatherman blanked up the forecast...
