Barefoot on the AT in Maine

Just out from the 100 mile wilderness in Monson ME, and need to tell the community about Tyvek the ex marine who is hiking the AT barefoot. He has a website called: thelongwalkhome.org. Check it out. He is pretty amazing. When you walk along and see boot prints, occasional moose prints and then human footprints, it will blow your mind.

I hope his feet are ready for the ROCKS of Pennsylvania. Is he carrying boots? Every long distance barefoot hiker I met carried boots for rough sections.

I don't think I would enjoy the hundred mile wilderness barefoot in early June. I don't like bugs biting my toes. It may have been the rain or bugs or the fact that he had another 2000+ miles to go but I sense a DNF. Any reports out there that he is still on the trail??

When I was on Saddleback/The Horn last week (Sunday) there were (bootless) footprints all over the mud...I was thinking the whole time "who the crap is this crazy moron?". Now it makes sense...hah. I hope he makes it, good luck to him.
