Baxter Tentsites

I have reservations for a 4-person tentsite at Roaring Brook in July.

Now I'm trying to figure out how much space there is for the tent(s). My tent is nominally a "four-person" tent, but we'd be crammed in like sardines. A six-person tent would be about right, but would it fit? Or two three-person tents? A call to the park didn't really clarify matters.

Could someone with experience specifically at Roaring Brook advise?

I go to Roaring Brook every Sept. The tent sites are actually quite large. I don't think you'll have much trouble pitching a six. The sites are open and flat, especially the walk in sites which are huge. Hope this helps, don't miss Sandy Stream Pond at dusk, its Moose time.

Unlike some commercial campgrounds, Baxter sites are not cookie-cutter and what will fit may depend on the actual site. If you post the size of your tent(s) and what site # you have, perhaps somebody here will be at Roaring Brook and can check it out.

I've never had any trouble putting up (2) 4 person tents on the sites. I would not envision you having any trouble. If you have an option for the walk in sites, take them. They are sweet (as SteveSkier mentioned).

Thanks, guys. I actually have sites 16 and 17. I'll borrow one or two larger tents and have people bring whatever they have. Looks like we should be able to make it work.

We're there for four nights and really hoping the weather will be good enough one day to do Knife Edge again. That is a truly awesome hike.
