I heard from a fellow hiker (a reliable source) that while redlining in the pemi they encountered a bear hunter heading up to 13 falls. The hunter is a former caretaker and decided that he might as well go where the bears are easy to find. The individual was planning to pack the bear out in quarters if successful. Obviously an atypical hunter as my general advice is hunters rarely are found much more than mile from a road. I don't expect it will solve the overall bear issue in the pemi but might deal with one.
BTW, I am not a hunter but I have no problem with responsible hunters practicing their sport. If they can deal with nuisance bear along the way I am all for it.
