Beaver, or Muskrat?

I feel it is fine to trap for profit IF there is a large enough population. I mean really commericial fishing is a mixture of trapping and hunting and there tends to be no political outcry. By the way I don't give a crap about political correctness, that is really an attack on my First Ammendment Rights.

I believe its a muskrat.
 
I've only seen muskrats from a distance, if at all, but I've seen many beavers close up, and this looks a little different. It's also very uncommon to get as close as you did to a beaver without getting the ol' slap of the tail on the water.

That's what I was thinking. There were two of them, and the first swam away when we approached, while that one decided to be photogenic for awhile. I'd say muskrat.
