Which direction is best for doing a Pemi loop?

I happen to think you are all a bit crazy (and in much better shape than I am) to do the Pemi loop in a day whichever direction you choose.

However, just out of curiousity - how many miles and how many feet of elevation gain does the loop add up to?

Depends on which direction you go.

And it's important that, on average, there are an equal number going each way, or else it'll throw off the whole Pemi.

So please support my bill, directing registration and monitoring to ensure compliance. The bill will include the creation of a blue-ribbon commission, who will appoint a new federal agency.

Random Pemi direction choice is dangerous and destructive, so please be careful, the fines could be substantial.

Yes, and the weight of the "balancing hikers" should be equal so if you weigh 180 and the "balancing hiker" going the other way is 230, you carry a 50 lb pack !

Also, it's called a "Puma Loop" when you do it clockwise.

I think the best way (CW or CCW) depends on whether its summer or winter.

I'd rather go up S. Twin from Galehead in summer and down that section in winter (in spite of the soul crushing Garfiled and Franconia ascents).

On a CW Puma loop once you hit S. Twin you're basically home free (summer or winter).
