I went up N. Moose from Wolfeboro Rd to Goose Pond road today with Ethan, and a friend to clear blowdowns, There were many. Now there are few.:D We left three 20" step-overs near the end 'cus we were tuckered out!

Ethan hard at work

He has the best "concentration" face :)

We came across some of my favorite DOC signs:

And then, at the end of the day, back at Goose Pond Road, we came across a few more:

I had heard rumblings that the FS wanted to replace DOC signs with "standard" USFS signs....I guess the transition has started.

Any chance you can add a fourth option for "both"???

Love your signs...that Ethan looks pretty handy with a saw, wonder where he got that from?? :D

I tried to add it....too much of a Luddite to figure it out:-( anyone?)

The DOC signs....I'm not sure who did these particular signs, but I like them an awful lot! They were done at the same time as the shelter was replaced....'05 I think.

I keep hearing that that is still there, but I haven't seen it in a while....

a couple more favorites are:
one I came across somewhere on Moosilauke that says "YOU ARE LOST"
and one on Smarts summit where the AT north and the old Clark Pond Loop intersect. IT is a few feet down the Clark Pond Trail and says "THIS IS NOT THE APPALACHIAN TRAIL!"
