Over the years I've met many interesting characters about this time of year through hiking the AT. Yesterday, however, sitting on top of Mt. Jefferson we met without a doubt the most colorful character we've ever met up there. He calls himself Bones. What attracted my attention at first glance was the head of a skeleton hanging from his backpack. I asked him if it was his mother-in-law but he said no it was just his friend Sal. He's heading south and he doesn't know when he'll arrive in Georgia--however long it takes was his answer. If snow stops him in the Smokies, no problem, he'll just wait it out and then keep on going. He's a delightful conversationalist. Very colorful. Lauky and I wish him all the best. He's probably somewhere between Lakes and Zeeland right now. If you run into him give him our greetings
BONES
Bones snapped a picture of us while we were there.
It was taken at the identical spot where we had one taken when I finished my winter round up there.
