Bugs in VT

Heading for the VT 4000 ftrs. Has anyone sampled the bug bloom there??

I spent The night of friday June 1st on the side of Camel's Hump. Black Flies were fairly thick and biting. No problems while hiking but they swarmed when sitting still and eating dinner. Trails are in great shape!

They are not too bad in the Killington area, I'd recommend repellent, though.

When on Mendon last weekend we were SWARMED with black flies but at least the mosquitos were very small in number. With sufficient reapplications of repellant we were able to avoid too many bites but with such big swarms it's hard to keep them out of the eyes, ears, nose and throat

Climb Camels Hump via the Forest City Trail > Long Trail North on a nice day, you won't regret it.
