How are the bugs in the Whites and ADKs. The 'bloom' should be soon.

Speaking of, the alpine gardens should also be blooming.

:D Yeah.

Reporting from Intervale: the bugs are here. Hey, what did you expect? It's June.

I saw a trip report in Trail Conditions for Pharaoh Mt via Crane Pond that said

The mosquitoes were ravenous and unrelenting in the lower elevations. My brother and I were stalked by a cloud of them until we started gaining. The humidity was tough, but we stuck with long sleeve techwick shirts....better to sweat than be eaten. Black flies made an appearance on the summit, but they weren't quite as bad as the skeeters....and a few deer flies also buzzed around.

I'm hoping the buggies go away quickly this year. I'm planning a trip to Pharaoh.

northern presis bugs

Very few and only at the lower elevations as of 5/31, but my paranoid mind could actually hear them hatching...watch your back!
