I had great luck weeks ago on with a #12 elk hair caddis.

Here is my notes from that trip.

I left Lafayette Campground parking lot at 5:30 Sunday morning and reached Lonesome Lake at 6:00. I went around the lake to the dam to gear up and made my first cast near the dam a short time later. The air was cool and the wind was around 10 to 15 mph out of the NE. I noticed a fish rise about 50 yards to my right, I made my way over to the spot and with my first cast I was into the fish. At 6:30 the AMC hut on the west side of the lake announced its wake up call to its guest with a guitar serenade (quite surreal). I caught 17 brookies (all between 8 and 14 inches) on an elk hair caddis in 90 minutes. I left only because my hands got quite cold. I was back to my truck by 8:30 and home by 9:00, just in time to shower and change for church. I did not see another person until I was 5 minutes from the parking lot.
