Anyone have info on the trail conditions on Cardigan? Or what they're likely to be this weekend? (I checked the reports here and over at AMC and didn't see anything recent)

I'll be going up from the lodge on Saturday, and one of the women joining me is not fond of snow and ice. I'm trying to give her and idea of what she'll likely run into.

Thanks

Well, I climbed it two weeks ago and you really had to hunt to find any left over snow and ice. Based on that, I feel pretty confident saying that non-liquid water will not be problem.

I hiked up the Steve Holt! Trail and down the a few others on that side on May 11th and only saw a few small patches of snow, which are without a doubt gone. According to the fire warden, the West Ridge Trail was in just about the best shape he had seen it for that time of the year.

Hiked Cardigan 5/10/08. parked at the AMC's Cardigan Lodge. Hiked Manning trail to Firescrew then over to the fire tower, quick pace and I reached the tower 1 hr 15 minutes after I started. I descended via South Peak.

There was 1 small patch of snow below the Firescrew summit that I would assume is long gone.

I descended via South Peak and the Hurricane Gap trail to the Clark trail and merged with the Holt Trail about 0.5 miles from the lodge.

Enjoyed a brief chat with the ranger who said the State Park officialy opened 5/9
