Carrying GPS on pack strap?

I have an osprey pack and I just stick it in the outside pocket on the back. I've never had a problem with reception and it isn't going anywhere.

Back in the days when people rode horses, at least someone with some amount of intelligence was paying attention to where they were going...

After an 18 hour day, we followed Paradoxs GPS from Rainier to get to Mt St Helens. Got most of the way there and then the fine road we were on (paved logging road) just was no longer plowed. Just stopped at a snow bank. Same thing would have happened with a map, though. We weren't riding horses , but we were smart enough to turn around and get back out to the highway.

My sister once turned a 3 hour drive to the Jersey Shore into a 7 hour one following her GPSs "shortest route" . But she's never been accused of having too much common sense.
