Merry Christmas, :)

After a delicious special eggs (sory it is secret receip from Pinpin) with a pink sky in East and without rain in the regionnal radar We took the decision to finish the work started by Geezer 12-22-05.

Since the attempt to Carson without map We do not chance, We printed a new big scale map of the 2 ennemies!!!

We meet Margareth the assistant rangers at the Adk parking, put the snowshoes on in 2 at 4 inches of wet snow in a good snowshoes tracks. Thank You Geezer ;) . Good progress before Geezer turn around at this place in 12' to 18' and more in blowdown places We need one hour to arrive at the Nye and Street junction.

Drop the packsack check the map and the bearing and go to Nye without trouble but with a slow progression in deep wet snow.

We returned at the junction started in the usual path in over 2' of wet snow specialy in the blowdown place!!!
Do not take a chance when We can see the ennemy take a bearing and chekc this thing every 50 steps.

One hour later with 1668 more steps We can remove the snow in the small disque in the Street summit. Ye!!! :D

Easy return at the junction in only 25 minutes and go down slowly .

From th register to the register 5 h. 30 m. Not to bad in this wet snow conditions.

Unfortunately this is the boxing day tomorrow no hike just work  , maybe the day after We will take the decision tomorrow morning.

Pinppin Junior.

Great stuff. It was a pleasure to meet you on Porter Mt. on Christmas Eve (we were the couple with the teenager at the summit). It was quite a treat to meet a legend on a winter summit. I must tell you, since there was 2-3" of snow on the trail when we headed over to Porter and were the first ones over that day, my son Nick has been bragging that he "broke trail" on Porter for the legendary Pin Pin.

We got a very late start this AM and had a 3 hour drive to dinner so we only had time for Mt. Jo. The views were awesome and we were up and down in a very quick (for us) 1:15 minutes (including 20-25 minutes on the summit).

Glad you got Nye out of the way :)

Trails paths broken?

Hi Cantdog, :)

Yes, sure to Phelps and Tabletop...maybe for redfield, unfortunately no to Cliff.

But if the last now of yesterday and today was not too deep and We will have not trouble to drive this evening in lake Placid from St-Jérome We will attack Cliff tomorrow...Coming with us must warriors must chance to chance the ennmy in friend... :D

PinPinJr and Winter Peak Bagging

:D As I passed through Tupper Lake at around 1AM early the morning of December 21, I made up this little rhyme (amended to reflect the actual hike). I had big plans then, as I had just decided to follow Alain's (and Pierre’s) soon-to-be freshly broken trail up toward Redfield that day, and try to bag a few additional peaks to start the official winter hiking season. As it turned out, just the 7-mile hike (with full pack) up to Uphill Brook tired me out, and I hiked out the next morning without so much as even one summit to show for my effort. Now, "PinPinJr" has already climbed more peaks that I'll likely do all winter!

"Follow the track of the Rabbit,
to Redfield - I just had to grab it.
For Skylight, Marcy and Gray
one more night I would stay;
but by morning, I really had had it!"

To paraphrase a line from the children's classic Charlotte's Web, PinPinJr is "Some Hiker"! :D
