Police Want to Know Who Left Piano in Massachusetts Forest
HARWICH, Mass. — Harwich police have a musical mystery on their hands: Who left a piano in the middle of the woods? And why?

The Baldwin piano discovered in the Bells Neck woods appears to be in perfect working condition and had a matching bench as if it had recently been played.

The piano was discovered Saturday by a woman walking along a path inside a conservation area at the woods.

Another question police would like to answer is how the piano got to such a remote location. The piano is heavy and it took more than a half dozen men to load it onto a truck to remove it.

Oh my gosh, what a story. I don't even know what to say to this, besides if it was a college prank they have WAY too much time on their hands, lol.

Dang, if they'd left it there I would have loved to have played it!

Oh that's mine, so sorry officer Obie.. it fell out of my pack. I'll retrieve it right quick. :D

When I hear a fishy story like this I immediately suspect that arch-villain PIANO TUNA.
The piano was left to tempt the staff to scale it

Its nine oclock on a saturday
The regular crowd shuffles in
Theres an old man sitting next to me
Makin love to his tonic and gin

He says, son, can you play me a memory?
Im not really sure how it goes
But its sad and its sweet and I knew it complete
When I wore a younger mans clothes

La la la, de de da
La la, de de da da da

Chorus:
Sing us a song, youre the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, were all in the mood for a melody
And youve got us feelin alright

Now john at the bar is a friend of mine
He gets me my drinks for free
And hes quick with a joke or to light up your smoke
But theres someplace that hed rather be
He says, bill, I believe this is killing me.
As the smile ran away from his face
Well Im sure that I could be a movie star
If I could get out of this place

Oh, la la la, de de da
La la, de de da da da

Now paul is a real estate novelist
Who never had time for a wife
And hes talkin with davy whos still in the navy
And probably will be for life

And the waitress is practicing politics
As the businessmen slowly get stoned
Yes, theyre sharing a drink they call loneliness
But its better than drinkin alone

Chorus

Its a pretty good crowd for a saturday
And the manager gives me a smile
cause he knows that its me theyve been comin to see
To forget about life for a while
And the piano, it sounds like a carnival
And the microphone smells like a beer
And they sit at the bar and put bread in my jar
And say, man, what are you doin here?

Oh, la la la, de de da
La la, de de da da da

besides if it was a college prank they have WAY too much time on their hands, lol.
Lol, you're right... couldn't have been college students... college students are always too busy studying and going to class :D

Mods, it's time to put a damper on all this.
How about a plethora of dampers

As both a professional pianist and longtime hiker, one would think I could add something to this thread... but as you can see, I have nothing to offer. Must be past my bedtime.:(:mad:

Now I'm thinking if we got enough of us musician/hikers together we could form a band and do those Adirondacks in style.
