Dilly Trail?

Has anyone out there ever done the Dilly Tr out of Lost River to Kinsman Ridge? Looks pretty steep! Can you park for free at Lost River or should I park at the Beaver Brook trailhead and walk the road over? Does it tend to be wet/slippery? Should I plan to head up the Dilly and down on Kinsman Ridge? Anyone got pictures of it? I'm thinking of doing a day of redlining short hikes near to Rt 93, including the Dilly, Indian Head Tr to Mt Pemi, Georgiana Falls and maybe a couple others.

The Dilly Trail heads north from Lost River (on 112), with the TH being about a half mile east of the Beaver Brook TH. It intersects the Kinsman Ridge Tr about a hundred feet below the first bump's summit (at about 2600' elevation). Looks like they didn't do the Dilly according to that map. But it sure looked like a great hike they did, I'll be looking forward to doing that one myself!

you may want to check with the rangers- I believe that you have to get one of those parking passes for the WMNF. They go by the week or the year. Has anyone actually gotten ticketted?

Last I knew you could park at Lost River for free, only the gorge trip costs money.

Last I knew you could also park for free at Beaver Brook Trail, the FS took it off the list of fee sites. Wonder if they will remove the fee tube, there was a marten or something hiding in the bottom once when I was there in the winter.

There is a huge system of boulder caves in the talus slope near the Dilly Trail, over a mile measured and a register in a large underground room. Note however that some world-class cavers consider this area too confusing and unstable to explore.

Oh, the Dilly Trail? I did it once and it's steep but not that impressive.
