I read a recent trip report that stated that the famous door set on Dorset had been removed. Disheartened that I hadn't seen this famous landmark in person and still "needing" this peak for my NHHH list, I decided to go up there and check it out.

The drive in was easy with my Honda Civic Hybrid. The way was very easy to follow too. At the couple of spots where ther might have been a little confusion, the proper way had been clearly marked.

I turned at the small cairn and followed the trail up to the southern summit and the tower wreckage. There was an interesting grill there, probably left by snowmobilers. I climbed the ladder to improve my hazy view before poking around in the woods a little.

After that, I continued onward toward the northern summit. The way was a little muddy, but it was no big deal. Happily, along my way, I came across the door set. Looks like they weren't removed after all as you can see by my pictures.

At the summit, I was bombarded by flies that drove me crazy. Reading entries in the log from friends that had recently been there, I saw that this was the norm up there. Man, they were bad!

After taking some pics and making my own entry, I hotfooted in down and got back to my car in no time. This is a great quick hike with woderful footing the whole way. I highly recommend it if you don't need expansive views.

Pics are here.
