According to the AMC White Mountain Guide, pg 51, (27th edition), Dry River Shelter #2 has been removed.

Dry River #1 is also gone...been gone.

Dry River #3 was still intact as of 5/27/05. (per trail conditions post here at VFTT)

Dry River shelter #2 was in great shape last time I was there, but that was 1971. Fast forward to today and you can find a designated site on the Dry River trail just south of the intersection with the Isolation(west) trail. The site is visible from the trail, between the trail and river and holds about 3 tents.

We passed by in winter 2.5 yrs ago. Don't recall seeing any hint of a shelter.

The shelter used to be on an island, accessible from the Mt. Pleasant trail.

Thanks--sounds like we were not likely to have spotted it even if it were still there.

We did see some designated camp sites between the Dry River Tr and the river somewhere as we approached the junction with the Isolation Tr, but I don't remember exactly where they were.

jfb,

How far south of the intersection is are the designated sights?

I think they're about 1/4 mile or less south of the Isolation junction and visible from the trail.
