learned today that the replacement of the suspension bridge over the dry river is going to be completed in about two weeks (if all goes well). they finished deconstruction today and will start flying in the new bridge pieces soon. more info. about crossing in my conditions report from today 11/8.

OMG! What are the odds of you being there for the destruction/construction?

That's cool that they were helpful about crossing the river!
 



this is a photo on my exit once they had it completely disassembled. you can see the crossing is actually quite low at the moment. click on thumbnail to link to larger shot.

Dry River Bridge Replacement

I had an email yesterday from a ranger in Saco district says the following:

"Hi Ray, the bridge is being inspected this week and should be open to the public by this weekend. Enjoy!"

From Waumbek's link at Forest Service it looks like new bridge employs more steel in framing. New bridge should last much longer than the wooden frame version of old.
