Date of Hike: January 5, 2008
Trail Conditions: Trail somewhat packed up to Pierce, but only broken out by a couple of hikers from Pierce to Ike. All were nicely packed out on return as there were quite a few hikers out today. Snow was very powdery and there is lots of it!
Special Equipment Required: snowshoes essential from Pierce summit area to Eisenhower. Warm clothing and some face protection a must due to winds above treeline. Crampons carried but not needed.
Comments: Awesome hike. Presi's and most of White Mountains were in the clear today! Views were incredible. Winds were non-existent until treeline, where there was a fairly strong northwest wind. Still the conditions did not warrant goggles or full face masks. Winter hiking doesn't get much better than this! It was great hiking with Larry D again!!
