Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but has anyone been up the osseo lately? I would like the beta if possible. Thanks.

did the falling waters loop three weeks ago and the bonds traverse two weeks ago -- things were pretty good -- still needed snowshoes in spots, otherwise barebooting and/or micros were sufficient.
not osseo but the general vicinity -- think you will probably just have a bit of snowy monorail left after 3800'.
hope this helps.

Yes, I have been waiting with great interest for replies of anyone who has been on it lately. Tradition holds that there is usually a fair amount of snow on some of the lower ladders, but who knows this year? By the time we head up for trailwork early June we have only found snow at the junction of Flume Slide Trail/ Franconia Ridge Trail/ Osseo Trail in that little culvert of an entrance to Flume Slide.

And, dagnabit, hopefully there are some blowdowns remaining when we come up. Two years ago we beat the AMC Field Crew to it, last year they beat us to it. The race is on....................

Im going up the osseo this weekend either sat or sun, fishercat I'll pm you with current conditions when Im back.

Hey bro! Looking forward to gettin down and dirty on the Osseo together for another season in June! Just heard from a local over here (went up the Osseo at night and did the Pemi traverse for sunrise) that the trail is in pretty good shape with a decent amount of snow from the swithbacks to the summit due to the past two snowstorms. He did mention that, at night mind you & no one had broken through the new snowfall yet, he kept losing the trail among the lower and upper switchbacks... so good news, that means we got a bit of work to do to make the blazes a tad easier to find without going overboard.

Anybody out there have any comments on the winter condition of the trail for future "enhancements"? especially the upper half? Fisher Cat & i welcome your thoughts!

Dang tootin! Its gonna be a great year for trailwork, I'm already sharpinin', gatherin', and restockin! Ordered new blazin paint just the other day.

FJ is right, we enhanced some blazes in the col area after the ladders but before the grade steepens on its way to the summit. As a non-winter reference, FJ built a nice bog bridge there last fall as the trail dips in a northerly direction before turning left (west), then north again to the ridge. We had heard from others that this was a common area to lose direction in the winter.
