The second CME, due Fri night, may be stronger. Unfortunately, the nearly full moon will rise a little after 9pm (in eastern MA), so the best seeing might be just before then. Doug

Sep 13, 2014 #5 Clouds blocked my attempts to view the aurora from the NW Boston suburbs. http://www.spaceweather.com/archive.php?view=1&day=13&month=09&year=2014 shows a picture from Casco, Maine and http://spaceweathergallery.com/aurora_gallery.html shows a bunch of images including one from Long Island, NY. An 11pm (Friday, 12 Sept) TV news program showed a nice picture from the top of Mt Washington. It might have been this image: http://cbsboston.files.wordpress.com/2014/09/mountwashington.jpg?w=420&h=138 50MHz (6 meter amateur band) noise levels were high (typical of auroras), but I didn't hear any signals bouncing off the aurora. (It is often possible to bounce signals of this frequency range off auroras.) Doug
