Well ,I never thought this day would come, but,I think it's here. The Mrs. and I have decided to purchase a set of topo cd's for our computer. We're wondering which kind to buy. We've heard so much about the different kinds, and features, it's starting to confuse us. Please tell us which kind would cover all of the Northeast, and has the most detail.
Thanks in advance,
Mr. and Mrs.Robohiker

so far the best that i have seen is national geographic's "topo" - they have state editions and a northeast edition - it is really nice if you have the cable to hook your GPS up to your computer (you can put your tracks onto the maps when you get back from your hike, you can click on the "topo" to get waypoints into your GPS, etc.) - - if you own a GPS that holds maps for viewing on the GPS screen you will have to get the specific software for that GPS to load the maps in (i heard that they have a newer version of national geographic "topo" out now that does even more).
