I'm taking some hiking rookies to the Franconia Notch area this weekend and I'm too late to reserve at Lafayette campground.

I know they have a lot of first come first serve tentsites but since we're arriving late Friday night, they told me chances are there would be none left.

I would normally camp on Gale River rd or Haystack rd but since I'm taking folks with little camping experience I need access to hot showers. and picnic tables.

Can anyone recommand a good private or state campground in the Lincoln/Woodstock area...preferably short distance from the Woodstock Station....;) :D

i stayed at hancock on 112 last week, really clean and empty.
got a beautiful site right on the kangamangus(sp)?
no showers though.
franstead family campground and beech hill are nice private campgrounds with showers etc.
peace.

Maple Haven and Lost River Valley Campground are both located in North Woodstock. Both are fairly large commercial campgrounds. I have not stayed at either (I hae friends in North Woodstock), but they seem to be clean, well run sites. And they are close to the Station :)

Edit: Just spoke to Lisa. She has stayed at both, and says they are both very nice and clean.
