I've been using synthetic hiking shorts, mainly nylon, since I started hiking. Last week I hiked with my brother in law, who had some goretex shorts he got as a gift a while back and he swears by them. I see why, after going through a recently rained on trail. My shorts were immediately soaked through and his just repelled the moisture from the branches as we brushed by.

My question is, do any of you use goretex shorts and if so where can they be found?? I've done countless web searches and have come up with a goose egg. Also, for the hikers who use them, do you find a big difference in their breathability for summer time hiking over the other synthetic shorts, especially the common nylon ones?

I have a couple of pairs of gor-tex convertable pants. They are made by the north face, and I think my wife found them at tj max or somthing like that.
