What is the best way to arrange for transportation from Grafton to Glencliff???

Two of us are doing the 135 mile stretch and either end of the park is roughly a nine hour drive so we cant really justify the separation for 9 hours and the wear and tear on two cars for the trip.

Are taxi's the only real option (Mapquest gives the road distance at ~108 miles) or are there services in the area that might accomodate this?

Public local transportation is in short (no) supply on this end (Franconia) of your route. The only service I know about close to what you're looking for is the AMC's hiker shuttle, but that would take you just from the Franconia Notch to the Pinkham Notch. Taxis are few and far also. Generally when we need a ride we arrange a lift with a friend. You can hitchhike or hope that you'll hook up with a hiker coming off the trail with you who would be willing to drive you back to your start point. I've given some long rides back to the car when I've been seeing people on the trail for several days.

Taxis in the whites

As it turns out there is a taxi service that serves the white mountains. They are a bit pricey, but are an outlet for those who dont have the alternative of friends that live in the area or the time to rely on hitchiking. Their rates are either $2.00 per mile or 60 dollars per hour (Whichever is better for you). For those who are interested their number is 603 - 356 - 0000.

Hikers Paradise

For a shuttle around the White Mountains, you might contact Bruno at Hikers Paradise in Gorham.

Alternately, get the shuttle list from the ATC.
