After an excellent night Cinco de Mayo-ing with friends a little (i.e. easy) Sunday hangover hike was in order. Nancy, Spongebob and I headed down to Haystack Mtn. near Wilmington, VT and headed up. Lots of blow downs and a heavily eroded trail which was more like a mini swamp were the only notable "obstacles".

There were a handful of people at the top when we arrived, but since Spongebob was with us, they quickly cleared out and we had the place to ourselves. (thank you, SB) ;) The weather was perfect, the sky was beautiful, we could hear a chorus of frogs from the pond below. The view was pretty fantastic. Greylock in MA, Monadnock in NH, the windmills in Searsburg, Mt. Ascutney, and yes...way, way, way in the distance the snowy top of Washington was visible!

We lounged on the rocks soaking up the views and the sun for more than an hour. After a winter of hurrying off of summits due to wind/cold/no views and the impending bug season that will cause the same desire to keep on moving it felt like a Cinco de Mayo miracle to spend all that time sitting quietly with friends and a VFtT.

Hey TC,

The party was something else . . . we had a blast !!!
Chip said the best quote of the day was you . . . evertime some one came into the house "Hey, here is the recipe for making margaritas, it makes enough for 2, I will split it with you if you want . . ."

No wonder you were falling down so much :D :D
BTW, this is trips and events not trip reports . . . hahaha . . . are you still drinking those margaritas for 2 ???? Just kidding, love ya,

Dude! I'm not still hungover! And despite my very sexy party trick of "dancing" with the drum set, I actually wasn't that hung over on Sunday. No headache, stomach was okay, a little tired maybe was all.

Hope you enjoyed your jaunt to the bog.

what a party!

TC- that was a GREAT party!! Tequila shots and dancing!!! :D Sorry I didn't make the hangover hike, but gully climbing on Sat and the rockin' time at the Disco Dump basically did me in :D

Great to see many VFTTers that I haven't run into in a longgg time!

Thanks again!

It was nice seeing Haysuess the Newt and the Unknown cat for Cinco De Mayo. But if you want me to do the usual, "It was nice seeing everyone" crap....Then too bad. The hike wasn't life changing and the drive home was boring NHPR and not ViPeR. I wish I remembered to throw rocks down a the frogs or squirrels sounding like frogs 500 feet below. Now, that would have been life changingly cool.

But the quesadillas were good....Oh, yeah the chef imported from South of the Border in Pennsylvania made those.

This should kill this thread.

Oh, when can I stay over again?
