Oh I can objective as all hell. McKinley had no relationship to the mountain. Alaskans have no interest in changing it back. So what good reason is there to do so?
Trump made himself a vow to eradicate as much as possible any evidence that a black man was ever elected to the presidency. That is the only reason behind this. A general rule most presidents follow is that one listens to members of their party within a given state before making symbolic actions that affect them.

I've posted this before, but a truly excellent episode on renaming mountains:

Are there any more than, at most, 6 people
In the entire World who would want it to be named McKinley??
Whereas millions want it to be Denali.
My sense is that Trump is not going to do this but rather a quip me made to stir the pot as he is known to do.

BIngo! Flood the zone with crap is always the plan. If you are busy talking/worrying/looking at what they won't do you don't have time to see what they are doing. Expect a lot more of this because they need to break you of your ability to feel outrage or even care. All you have to do is look at their role models to know what comes next.

Denali Denali Denali to stay on topic for anyone who'd rather play forum lawyer than admit what is actually going on.

That's an objective take?

I wouldn't say objective so much as an educated guess. Trump has long history of racist practices in New York City. During his first campaign he parroted the lie that Obama was born in Kenya. He has routinely referred to people of color on social media as "dogs" or "animals."

I'd be curious why you think he'd want to rename it though.

Fun fact: Mt McKinley was unofficially named by a NH born prospector while in Alaska in 1896 (in 1917 by US government). His name was William Dickey, yeah, the same Dickey that the Welch-Dickey loop is named after.
