I came across a trail closure for the Escarpment Trail today doing some reading. It was very vaguely worded but eluded to a closed section of the Escarpment Trail for a recovery. I almost hiked South of there last week and know they got hit with about 18 inches of snow in that general area so I can the potential for a hike gone wrong. I was kind of surprised that several Google searches didn't provide any details at all though. Just various reports about people being turned away at trailheads by rangers. Numerous sites indicate the closure but do not say why.
Is there anything online about this? Why the secrecy? Is there a fugitive or some sort of public danger? At least in NH these events are pretty transparently covered on many news sites as well as social media. Curious if anyone saw this and knew more information.
