Borrego Springs, CA is a great place!

I co-led four trips to the Anza-Borrego Desert for the AMC, which is about three hours east of San Diego. We went in March, and camped at the state park, which was great. There is some good hiking around there. They grow oranges and grapefruits in Borrego Springs. The day time temps were in the 70's, and at night, it usually only went down to the high 40's. The wildflowers are great, and the town was very laid back.

Don't rule out the SW. Also, Prescott, AZ is another neat area. :)

How were the ticks? The last time I hiked there, during February, I came out covered with them. Maybe just a bad year.

Ticks at Anza Borrego

Waumbek - We never had any problem with them, but that was a few years back. Don't know how they are currently!

Check out Havasu in the Grand Canyon, and do some of the old trails in the canyon.
