Hiking Adirondacks this weekend?

Thanks for the advise. Having never really been to NY except to see Niagra Falls or pass through it, I'm having fun trying to orient myself. Any other advise would be much appreciated. I am trying to maximize my hiking time while there since it is a distance. I'm hoping to go up on Thursday evenings and then hike till Tuesdays....That's my hope. We'll see if I can pull it off. I told my husband I needed to quit working because it was interfering with my hiking and other hobbies. He just laughed.

P.S. I got 100% deet yesterday at Walmart....I started thinking ...lay out in the sun and get cancer or put on 100% deet and get cancer...OK...I'll hike! Wish God would make those pesky little bugs go away!
