After finishing the 46 High Peaks, I've been slowly branching out and exploring other hiking opportunities, mostly in the Catskills and in the rest of the Adirondack Park outside of the High Peaks. One area I'd like to do more hiking in, though, is Vermont... but it seems as though resources are limited in comparison to the hiking guides and maps available for the Adirondacks, Catskills, and the White Mountains.

I've seen several guides on day hiking in Vermont, and several "50 hikes" types of books, but it seems like there isn't a very comprehensive guide. I'd like something that isn't just limited to day hikes, or the best/most popular hikes.

I've also never seen a hiking map for Vermont available in any store, so I have no idea which ones of the maps I see available for sale online are good or not.

What guidebooks, and particularly, what hiking maps are "must haves" for Vermont hiking?

Is there any overnight hiking opportunities in Vermont outside of the Long Trail/Appalachian Trail? Or should I just get the Long Trail/AT Guidebook, and use a day hiking guide book for everything else?

Thanks.
