This weekend, we went for a short trip in the Catskill. The weather was so nice and warm. There are still lots of snow on the mountains and especially above 2,900 feet.

Friday, April 2, 2010, we left home early to arrive at noon for Hunter, 4046 feet, the 2nd highest peak in the Catskills. While we talking to an other couple, a dog urinated on my backpack, not funny to mark his territory on my bag. I did not find that funny.
Hunter, an easy mountain to climb and short track but with a steady rise. The sun was so strong, we have sunburn. First hike in bermuda and T-shirt in 2010.

Saturday April 3, 2010, we will do Slide 4180 feet, the highest peak in the Catskills. With a brook crossing immediately to the trailhead and snow melting fast, we did not know what to expect. With the good advice from my friends we had an alternative path if the current is too strong and the water is too high. We arrived to the TH and I'll see what the brook looks like. The flow is strong and the water is high. But I think we can go crossed it anyway. Around 200 to 300 feet to the left of the trailhead, we found trees across the brook and rocks for the crossing.
Very nice trail and very short and easy.

Thank you to everybody who helped me.

The snowshoes were necessary above 2900 feet and sometimes below depending on the orentation of the trail.

Now we are at 101/115, and Maine awaits us. :)

Great hike!! You're certainly closing in on the list. Leaving Maine for last sounds like a lot of fun!
